Adiong Memorial State College Celebrates 28th Foundation Day, Highlighting Unity and Strategic Growth
Bagoaingud, Ditsa-an Ramain, Lanao del Sur — Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) recently commemorated its 28th Foundation Day, centering the festivities on the theme, "Unity in Diversity, Strength in Employee-Student Collaboration". This was spearheaded by the Director of the Division of Students Affairs, Prof. Luis Siddick F. Adiong together with the Office of the President (OP).
The event served as both a celebration of the institution’s historical journey and a showcase of its rapid evolution since becoming a state college in 2021.
The day began at 7:00 am with a vibrant parade, followed by a high-energy Street Dance Competition featuring six participating groups. The College of Education and the College of Natural Sciences and Sustainability both emerged as winners in the dance category, which showcased the diverse talents of the student body.
A journey of transformation during the opening program, Dr. Sittienor C. Abubakar, Dean of the College of Education, provided a briefing on the college's history, tracing its roots back to its start as a National High School in 1995. A pivotal moment in the institution's history occurred in 2021, when it was officially converted into Adiong Memorial State College through the efforts of former Congressman and current Mayor, Honorable Ansaruddin Hooky Alonto-Adiong.
The institution has seen remarkable growth in a short period, with its workforce expanding from fewer than 50 employees to over 200 staff members in just three years.
In her presidential address, Dr. Sherifa Rohannie K. Adiong emphasized the importance of institutional integrity and resilience. She noted that the college is currently "gearing towards AMSC 2026," a strategic initiative aimed at continued growth and excellence.
The guest speaker, Dr. Rashdi Macalangcom Casim, a former Chief Administrative Officer of AMSC currently pursuing a second PhD in Malaysia, delivered his message via a virtual platform. Dr. Casim reflected on his personal trajectory from an instructor to a leader within the college, describing AMSC not merely as a workplace but as a "dream ground" and a "future university of the people". He credited the institution's success to the collaboration between students, employees, and the community.
The celebration featured various demonstrations of student skill and discipline. Criminology majors performed an exhibition that included knife drills and simulated scenarios designed to demonstrate their preparedness for future careers in law enforcement. The Paramanis Dance Troupe also provided an intermission performance.
Following the formal program, the campus community gathered for a traditional boodle fight at noon. The afternoon was filled with spirited competitions, including egg hunt adventure won by the Alumni/Graduate School and lastly, Volley “Giant” Ball Match won by the College of Criminology.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Bedaria I. Amerol, Dean of the Graduate School, who spoke on behalf of the administration, reaffirming the college's commitment to providing a supportive and diverse learning environment.
