AMSC BEED Students Foster Compassion Through Community Visit to Ditsaan Ramain

Brgy. Lilod Buaya-an, Lanao del Sur — In a powerful demonstration of social responsibility and the "School-Community Linkages" philosophy, first-year students from Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) conducted a community outreach mission at Darul Ebtisam Litahfiedhel Qur'an Al-Kareem on April 28, 2026.

The activity was spearheaded by the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) 1st-year students as part of their PEC 110: School-Community Linkages course. Under the instruction of Ma’am Samera H. Umpa, the "Lake Knights" traveled to the Toril community in Ditsaan Ramain to put their classroom lessons into practical, heart-centered action.

The visit was characterized by a spirit of Sadaqah and service. Students organized the distribution of food and groceries to the residents and students of the Darul Ebtisam center. This gesture went beyond simple charity; it served as a vital bridge between the academic institution and the local community it serves.

According to the organizers, the outreach aimed primarily to demonstrate compassion by allowing students to engage directly with community members to understand their needs. Another one is to apply theory by moving beyond the PEC 110 syllabus to experience the real-world impact of school-community partnerships. And also to promote social responsibility by cultivating a sense of duty among future educators to serve as pillars of support in Lanao del Sur.

The engagement at Darul Ebtisam Litahfiedhel Qur'an Al-Kareem highlighted the intersection of Education and Faith, a core value within the region. By supporting a center dedicated to the memorization of the Holy Qur’an, the AMSC College of Education (COE) reaffirmed its commitment to cultural and spiritual sensitivity.

For the first-year BEED students, the experience provided a foundational lesson in leadership. The activity proved that the role of a teacher extends far beyond the classroom, involving a lifelong commitment to community well-being and active engagement.

As the AMSC Lake Knights continue their academic journey, initiatives like these ensure that the next generation of educators is equipped not only with pedagogical skills but also with the empathy required to lead and uplift their communities.
