AMSC Mobilizes for Mother Earth: OP, NDRRM and DSA Lead Massive Earth Day Clean-Up Drive

DITSA-AN RAMAIN, LANAO DEL SUR — In a resounding display of environmental stewardship and community spirit, Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) spearheaded a massive Clean-Up Drive today, April 28, 2026, as part of its extended Earth Day 2026 celebrations carrying this year’s theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.”

The activity, which commenced early in the morning, was led by the Office of the President under the direct leadership of Dr. Sherifa Rohannie K. Adiong in close coordination with Sir Janoden Mauna, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRM) Coordinator, and the Office of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), led by Director Luis Siddick F. Adiong. The initiative aimed not only to beautify the campus, its surrounding and other nearby areas but also to reinforce the institution's commitment to sustainable ecological practices.

Joining the frontlines were various Heads of Offices and Faculty Members, who set aside their academic robes for working gloves, demonstrating to the student body that stewardship is a lifelong commitment.

Under the scorching morning sun, the drive saw a high-level convergence of the college’s workforce and student body.

The college’s vibrant student population, known as the Lake Knights, turned out in full force. The drive highlighted the specialized participation of three key departments:

First is the Team Forestry who utilizes their expertise in environmental conservation, Forestry students led the clearing of organic debris and the assessment of the campus’s green spaces.

Second, is the Team College of Information Technology, CIT students and faculty focused on the systematic collection and digital documentation of the activity, proving that tech-savviness and environmentalism go hand-in-hand.

And third, a standout highlight of the morning was the high-energy participation of the Team Criminology students. Dressed in their department uniforms, these future law enforcers brought a sense of discipline and "Bayanihan" to the drive.

Beyond the students, the AMSC Employees and Staff—the backbone of the institution—worked tirelessly alongside the colleges. The activity focused on waste segregation and the removal of non-biodegradable materials that threaten the local landscape.

As the morning concluded, the visible transformation of the campus served as a testament to what can be achieved when leadership and the grassroots unite. Director Luis Adiong expressed his gratitude to the participants, noting that such activities are vital in molding students into well-rounded, eco-conscious citizens.

The Clean-Up Drive marks another milestone in AMSC’s 2026 environmental calendar, reinforcing its status as a leading institution for both academic excellence and ecological advocacy in the region.
