Elevating Bangsamoro Education: PNU and AMSC Partner to Champion Teacher Excellence and Regional Development in BARMM

Philippine Normal University (PNU) and Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding at PNU’s historic Manila campus, establishing a strategic alliance to elevate teacher education across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Signed by PNU President Dr. Bert Jazmin Tuga and AMSC President Dr. Sherifa Rohannie Kadil Adiong, the partnership leverages PNU’s legal mandate as the National Center for Teacher Education to deliver technical assistance and capacity-building programs to AMSC faculty.

The collaboration centers on four core pillars: empowering AMSC faculty with advanced pedagogical methodologies, extending training workshops to basic education teachers across Lanao del Sur, establishing continuous quality assurance monitoring frameworks, and upgrading curricula to meet 21st-century academic demands. Supported by AMSC’s administrative leadership, the agreement bridges premier educational expertise from Manila directly to higher education and community classrooms in Mindanao.

This alliance directly strengthens academic quality for AMSC faculty and pre-service educators while extending immediate benefits to local primary and secondary school teachers. By equipping educators with modernized teaching strategies, the program drives improved learning outcomes and educational equity for young learners throughout the Bangsamoro region.

By uniting a national center of excellence with a growing state college, AMSC and PNU establish a sustainable model for inter-institutional capacity building, fostering inclusive development, peace, and academic excellence across the Philippines and the broader ASEAN community.
