AMSC Delegation joins CHED Ceremony Addressing ₱9.75B Free Higher Education Deficiency
Quezon City, Philippines — Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC), led by SUC President Dr. Sherifa Rohannie K. Adiong and Budget Officer Samsida A. Pandapatan, joined higher education leaders and government officials at Andaya Hall in the House of Representatives on September 24, 2026, for a milestone ceremonial turnover event.
Organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and led by Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis, the event—titled “Affirmation and Compliance of CHED with 2026 GAA on Free Higher Education Deficiency”—marked the release of ₱9.753 billion approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). The funding settles accumulated Free Higher Education (FHE) deficiencies across 108 state universities and colleges (SUCs) for Academic Years 2022–2023 through 2024–2025 under Republic Act No. 10931.
“For CHED, this is an affirmation of our responsibility to ensure that Free Higher Education is properly funded, responsibly implemented, and sustainably supported,” Chairperson Agrupis stated.
Symbolic checks were presented to the University of the Philippines System, Eastern Visayas State University, and the University of Southeastern Philippines to represent SUCs nationwide, with official payments already disbursed. Reimbursing these absorbed costs relieves financial pressure on institutions like AMSC, allowing funds to be directed toward upgrading classrooms, laboratories, faculty development, and student services.
Key national figures attending included House Speaker Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, Senior Deputy Speaker Rep. Ferdinand Hernandez, House Majority Leader Rep. Alexander “Sandro” Marcos III, House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing, House Committee on Technical and Higher Education Chair Rep. Jude Acidre, CHED Budget Sponsor Monique Lagdameo, and ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio. PASUC President Tirso A. Ronquillo and UP System President Angelo Jimenez were also in attendance.
AMSC’s participation highlights its continued collaboration with CHED, DBM, and UniFAST to sustain transparent and quality tertiary education for its students.
