Adiong Memorial State College launches 'Project I.Q.R.A.' to Boost Literacy in Lanao del Sur

Ditsa-an Ramain, Lanao del Sur — In a dedicated effort to enhance foundational reading skills among elementary students, the College of Education – Extension Service of Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) officially launched Project I.Q.R.A. (Initiative for Quality Reading Advancement) on September 29, 2026.

The extension program, organized under the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) department, aims to address literacy challenges and foster a stronger reading culture across local schools in the municipality. The launch event brought together college administrators, faculty, and local school heads committed to collaborative educational intervention.

The program commenced with an invocation and the playing of the National Anthem, followed by welcoming remarks from Dr. Nahar D. Pinto-Guiling, District In-charge Coordinating Principal of Barimbingan Central Elementary School. Dr. Sittienor C. Abubakar, Dean of the College of Education, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the institution's commitment to community-driven extension services.

On the other hand, Dr. Bedaria I. Amerol, Dean of the Graduate School, shared an inspirational message reiterating the transformative power of literacy in early education. Subsequently, Dr. Zainab O. Baute, BEED Program Head, presented a comprehensive overview of Project I.Q.R.A., outlining its objectives, pedagogical approaches, and planned implementation timeline across partner institutions.

Project I.Q.R.A. targets three primary recipient schools within the Ditsaan-Ramain district such as Barimbingan Central Elementary School, Bayabao Ramain Elementary School and lastly Pagalongan Central Elementary School which is already scheduled for launching today.

School heads representing the recipient institutions expressed their strong support for the project. Expressions of commitment were delivered by Dr. Nahar D. Pinto-Guiling, Dr. Norhaima M. Aragasi-Alumpong (Bayabao Ramain Elementary School), and Dr. Alyannah M. Macmod (Pagalongan Central Elementary School).

The formal program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Norania N. Disinggun, BSEd Program Head. The event was moderated by masters of ceremonies Arminah C. Gasanara, LPT, MAEd, and Jounaira I. Gandarosa, LPT, MAEd.

Following the opening ceremony, representatives from AMSC visited the partner schools to conduct consultations with local educators and distribute reading materials and student learning kits. At Bayabao Ramain Elementary School, students and faculty gathered at the campus stage to receive instructional supplies designed to support targeted reading activities.

Through Project I.Q.R.A., AMSC aims to work closely with local educators to assess student reading levels, implement tailored intervention strategies, and track progress over the course of the academic year.
